| Linealta (5.1) | Andiamo! is now Linealta, at app.linealta.com. Your workspaces, files and saved versions carry over unchanged. |
| Sign in & share (new in 5.0) | Sign in with an email link (Google / Microsoft once enabled). Your workspaces are saved to the Linealta cloud and changes from teammates appear live; avatars at the top show who else is here. 👥 Share invites people by email to the whole workspace or one project, as Editor (can change) or Viewer (read only); owners can change or remove access. Your avatar menu switches or creates workspaces. File & Export → Save version saves a version everyone can see and restore. |
| Without signing in | Choose “Use without signing in” to keep working in this browser only, as before. To move that work to the cloud later, sign in and pick Upload the workspace from this browser, or create a workspace from a .timeline.json file. |
| Pick what to add | Choose a tool in the Add bar (or keys 1–6): Bubble, Milestone, Key event, Deadline, Blackout band, Note. After you place one, the cursor returns to Select (hold Shift to keep placing). |
| Create | Bubbles & bands: click-and-drag across a row. Point items (milestone, key event, deadline, note): click in a row. Double-click a row also creates one. |
| Move / resize | Drag an item (also to another row). Drag a bubble or band edge to change start/end. |
| Exact times | Click an item → set start/end to the minute in the right panel (in the display time zone). |
| Move to Milestones | Right-click any item → Move up to Milestones (keeps its exact date & time; creates a Milestones row if the project has none) or Move to workstream ▸ to send it to any row in any project. Phases bring their sub-tasks along. |
| Free placement | Drag any item up/down inside its workstream to place it on any line — items may overlap. Labels get a soft background so arrows never run through text, and a label that would run into the next symbol is shortened with “…” (hover the symbol or select it for the full name). Right-click a workstream → Tidy up — auto-arrange items (or an item → Auto-place) to return to the automatic layout. |
| Drag & drop rows | Drag a workstream by its name (or the ⠿ grip) up/down — drop it anywhere, including inside another project. Drag a project header to reorder projects. Esc cancels; Undo reverts. |
| Copy / move workstreams | Right-click a workstream name → Copy workstream to project ▸ (copies the row with all its items, phases and the links between them) or Move workstream to project ▸. |
| US holidays row | Right-click a project header → Add US holidays row (or a workstream → Add US holidays row below): all 11 federal holidays (plus “observed” days when they fall on a weekend) and major holidays (Easter, Mother’s/Father’s Day, Halloween, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day) for the project’s years. Right-click the row to add more years. |
| Bundle tasks into a phase | Select several tasks: Ctrl/⌘- or Shift-click them, or click and drag a box around them on empty timeline space (hold Shift/Ctrl to add to the selection). Then click ▭ Bundle into phase in the bar at the bottom (or press G, or right-click → Bundle into a new phase) — a master bubble is created around them; name it in the side panel. Add to phase ▾ adds the selection to an existing phase. Collapse the workstream (▸) to see each phase as one labeled roll-up bar with its task count and dates. Dragging any selected item moves the whole selection. |
| Make a sub-task by dragging | Drag any task onto a bubble and hold for a moment — the bubble gets a dashed violet ring and “Release to add as a sub-task”. Let go: the task joins that phase (in the phase’s workstream, keeping its own dates; the phase grows to cover it). Dropping on a sub-task joins its phase. Quick drags just move the task as before. Undo reverts. |
| Publish PDF | File & Export → Publish timeline as PDF (or Ctrl/⌘+P, or right-click): choose what’s on screen, everything, or a custom frame — click Draw frame on timeline and drag a rectangle over the dates and rows, like a Miro frame. Pick paper (Letter → Arch E), orientation, One page or Fit width, and what to include, then choose Save as PDF in the print window. |
| Arrow strength | Drag the ◐ slider in the bottom bar (or Legend → Dependencies → Strength) to make dependency arrows fainter, down to 8%. Arrows of the selected item and the arrow under your mouse stay full strength. |
| Connection arrows | ⤳ Arrows (top right) or A turns all dependency arrows on/off. Right-click the button, use the Arrows picker in the status bar, or the Legend → Dependencies buttons to show arrows for the selected item only. |
| Dependencies | Hover an item → drag one of its blue edge dots onto another item. Right edge → left edge = Finish→Start; left→left = Start→Start; right→right = Finish→Finish; top/bottom = Related. Links are soft: they never move items on their own, but turn red when the timing is broken. Click a link to change its type, label or style, or to fix the timing. Under Advanced: lag/lead time (e.g. +2 days) and “push successor later”. |
| Zoom | Mouse wheel anywhere on the timeline zooms in/out around the cursor. In the toolbar, the slider sits under its scale labels (Decade … 15 min); the highlighted label is the scale you're looking at. +/− |
| Pan | Pan tool ✋ (H), hold Space and drag, or press and hold the mouse wheel (middle button) and drag. With the Select arrow (V), left-drag on empty space draws a selection box (it no longer pans); pan with the mouse-wheel button held down, the wheel, or the Pan tool. Shift + wheel scrolls rows up/down. ←/→ |
| Phases | Select a bubble → + Add sub-task to make it a phase, or set “Part of phase” on any item in the same row. Click the ▾/▸ count on a phase to expand or collapse it; collapsed phases show sub-task marks inside the bar. Moving a phase moves its sub-tasks. |
| Condense rows | Click ▾ beside a workstream name (or ≡ on a project) to condense it into a one-line summary of its activities. |
| Perspectives | Time zones & calendars adds header rows for other time zones, fiscal/custom years (any start month/day) and ISO week numbers. Tick and snap increments live under its Advanced section. |
| Task time zone | Optionally give any item its own time zone in the right panel (e.g. a vendor working in Eastern time). You enter its times in that zone; it shows a small zone chip and its times in your view and every header zone. |
| Projects | Use the project picker to view all projects or one. Rename projects/rows by double-clicking. Manage projects to recolor, add codes, reorder, or download a single project. |
| Calendar view | ▦ Calendar (top bar) shows everything vertically: Month stacks six months of week rows (multi-day bars wrap across days) and Week shows days as columns with hours running down. Drag items to move them (week view also changes time; drag the bottom edge to change the end). Click a day with an Add tool, double-click, or right-click to add items — they go to the workstream chosen in “New items go to”. ‹ › or ←/→ to move. |
| Collapsed phases | A collapsed phase (master bubble) shows its sub-tasks as a row of small dots on a thin rail below the bubble — one dot at each sub-task’s start, colored by status (green Complete, amber At risk, red Blocked, blue In progress). Hover a dot for the task name and dates. The bubble’s own text stays clear. |
| Collapse / expand all | ▾ Collapse all (top right, next to Arrows), the ▾▾ button beside “Workstreams”, right-click, or Shift+C collapses every workstream in view to a one-line summary — phases show as labeled roll-up bars — for executive reviews. ▸ Expand all / Shift+E opens them all for team reviews. One undo step. |
| Text alignment | In a bubble’s side panel, next to Bubble size, choose left / center / right for the text inside the bubble (also on right-click → Text alignment, and for several selected bubbles at once). |
| Bubble size | Bubbles in the bottom bar sets the default: Condensed (thin line), Standard, or Expanded (shows dates, owner and POC). Right-click any bubble or workstream to size it individually. |
| Status | Status shows as a colored left edge plus a chip: ● In progress, ▲ At risk, ■ Blocked, ✓ Complete. |
| Contacts | Side panel → Contacts & notifications: owner/POC names and emails. “Email owner & POC” opens your email app pre-filled; tick the offer box to get a prompt whenever dates or status change. “Calendar invite” downloads an .ics file. |
| Authors | Notes record who wrote them (set your name in Settings, or you'll be asked the first time). Hover a note — or any item with notes — to see the author and time. |
| Appearance | ☀ / ☾ / ◐ in the top bar switches Light, Dark, or Match computer (follows your PC's setting). Right-click → Full screen fills the monitor. |
| Right-click | Opens a menu for whatever is under the cursor: an item, a link, a row or project name, the date header, or empty timeline space (add items right there). Shift + right-click shows the normal browser menu. |
| Keys | Del delete · Ctrl/⌘ D duplicate · Ctrl/⌘ Z undo · T today · F fit · L legend · Esc deselect |
| Saving | Autosaves in this browser. File & Export → Save workspace file keeps a portable copy (all projects). |
